We are going back to the little old Bulimba Uniting church upstairs hall.Reason? Acoustics.
It's been fabulous having our sessions at the Bulimba Community & Senior Cits with Meg as the manager of the centre, great parking, space, kitchen for the cuppa, etc.
But - our voices hurt. This space was cleverly designed to minimise the resonance as the number of people in the room increased. The result is not good for choirs. We have had to abandon most of our richly harmonic slow pieces in favour of fast zippy things to battle the dry acoustics.
We will be a tight fit back in the little hall, but we can make it work. We need to be aware that we can be booted out at the last minute which happened frequently last time, but I am planning alternatives for those occasions.
The cheerful part is that I can stop worrying about your voices and mine, and we can go back to some of our beautiful slow and tender pieces which resonated so beautifully in the little church hall.
